Hire influencers in India

Costs, the ASCI label rules, and a safe way to pay.

To hire an influencer in India, shortlist creators whose recent posts reach your buyers, agree the price and ad rights in writing, make sure the ad carries an ASCI-approved label that stays on screen long enough, and pay in stages.

The advertising rule in India

ASCI's influencer guidelines say every ad published by an influencer must carry a clear disclosure label. A label is needed whenever there is a material connection, which includes free or discounted products and other perks, even if the review is unbiased. If there is no connection and the creator simply likes something they bought, no label is needed.

The labels ASCI lists include Advertisement, Ad, Sponsored, Collaboration, Partnership, Free gift, and Affiliate, plus the platform tags "Paid Partnership" on Instagram and "Includes Paid Promotion" on YouTube. The label must be upfront, not only in a bio, at the end, behind "more", or buried in hashtags.

For pictures or videos with no text, such as Stories, the label must be superimposed. In videos of 15 seconds or less it must stay for at least 3 seconds. For videos from 15 seconds to 2 minutes it must stay for a third of the video. For videos of 2 minutes or more it must stay for the whole promoted section. In live streams it must be announced at the start and the end.

Separately, the government's Central Consumer Protection Authority issued endorsement guidelines in 2022. They require endorsements to reflect genuine, current opinion based on real experience. The CCPA can fine up to 10 lakh rupees, or 50 lakh rupees for repeat violations.

This is not legal advice. Check the current rules, and agree in your contract who adds the label and where.

What it costs

We do not have a India-specific rate table. As a guide, the median agreed fee for one collaboration in Kolect's 2026 campaigns (global, in US dollars) was $250 for creators under 10K followers, $400 for 10K to 100K, and $600 for 100K to 500K. Convert to rupees at the day's rate and treat the number as a starting point for a negotiation.

Before you book

  • Pick one ASCI-listed label and put it in the brief, for example "Ad" or the platform's paid partnership tag.
  • For Stories and Reels, ask for the label superimposed on screen for the required time.
  • Ask the creator to try the product first, so the endorsement reflects real experience.
  • Keep the signed brief and the live post link on file.

How Antellio handles the deal

  • Creators connect their accounts, so the media kit shows live stats.
  • Contracts fix the scope, dates, and usage. Milestones track the work.
  • The brand funds escrow, and the money is released when you approve.
  • Fees: 5% when a brand adds money to a wallet, and 5% when a creator cashes out. Brand plans are Launch $0, Growth $60, and Scale $200 a month.
